About This Spain Teak Wood Dining Bench
The Spain bench earns its place by staying out of the way. The top is a single thick slab with the grain running the full length, and the only visible interruption is where the end caps meet the field — a breadboard joint, cut in because teak moves with humidity and the cross-grain cap holds the slab flat over years. That joint is structural, not styling. You see it on the corners because there was no reason to hide it.
The legs are closed loops rather than posts. Each one is built from thin strips of teak laminated and bent around a form, then joined into a continuous rectangle with softened corners — you can read the layers in the concentric lines along the curve, which is how bent-laminated wood is distinguished from a leg simply cut to a curved shape. Cut legs show grain running off the edge at the bend and split there eventually. Laminated ones don't. The loop also means no stretcher bar is needed between the legs, so the bench slides fully under the table and you can sit down from either side without stepping over anything.
At 45 cm seat height it pairs with a standard 75 cm dining table. 115 cm across seats two adults with room, three at a push.
