The table stands 76 cm tall, which is standard dining height. It pairs with chairs of 45 to 47 cm seat height and with our 45 cm dining bench.

No. The legs are closed loops that support the top on their own, so there is no stretcher crossing the floor. Chairs and benches push fully under, and nobody has to straddle a rail.

Allow about 90 cm of clearance on each side so chairs can be pulled out and people can walk behind them. That puts the minimum comfortable room size at roughly 3.3 x 2.7 metres for this table.

Solid teak throughout, in a natural teak finish. Teak has a high natural oil content, which is why it resists moisture and stains better than most hardwoods, and why it works well on a surface that sees daily spills.

Not for protection, but hot vessels straight from the stove will mark any finished wood surface. Use trivets for hot pans and wipe spills reasonably promptly. Everything else — plates, glasses, cutlery — is fine directly on the top.

It arrives knock-down. The legs bolt to the underside of the top with the fittings provided, and instructions are included. Two people are recommended for turning the top over during assembly.

It ships flat-packed, so the largest single piece is the tabletop at 148 x 90 cm. It passes through standard Indian doorways when carried on its side.

Wipe with a dry or lightly damp cloth for daily cleaning. Avoid standing water and direct sunlight for extended periods. Apply a thin coat of raw linseed oil or furniture oil once every 12 to 18 months if the surface looks dry. Sheesham and Teak contain natural oils and do not require heavy chemical maintenance.
