About This Spain Teak Wood Large Dresser
Six drawers and a full-height cabinet, which is an unusual split for a dresser and a useful one. The drawers take folded clothes; the cabinet takes the things that don't fold — a handbag, a stack of shoe boxes, a steam iron. Most dressers give you drawers only and leave you stacking bulky items on top of the wardrobe.
The drawer fronts run edge to edge with no visible frame between them, and the handles are solid teak bars rather than metal pulls. Pull a drawer halfway out and look at the front corner: you should see interlocking fingers of wood where the front meets the side. That is a dovetail or box joint, and it holds because the pieces lock into each other — the joint gets tighter as the drawer is pulled, not looser. Drawers that are only nailed or stapled at the corners loosen within a few years and start racking in the opening.
The mirror unit is a separate piece that sits on top rather than being fixed to the dresser. The mirror itself has a rounded teak surround, and beside it sits a narrow open shelf tower with a small drawer at its base. That means you can use the dresser alone against a low wall, or stack both for the full 75-inch height.

Yes. The mirror unit is a separate piece that rests on and fixes to the dresser top. Used alone, the dresser stands 35 inches tall, which works under a window or beneath a wall-mounted TV.

The drawers run on standard channel slides and pull out smoothly. The corners are joined with interlocking wood joints rather than nails, which is what keeps a drawer square over years of use.
Solid teak throughout, in a natural teak finish. Teak has a high natural oil content, which is why it resists moisture and insects and holds its shape in Indian conditions without heavy chemical maintenance.
We recommend it. Any tall unit with drawers can tip if several loaded drawers are opened at once, and the mirror adds weight at the top. An anti-tip bracket is included.
It arrives semi-assembled. The dresser comes built; the mirror unit mounts onto it with the fittings provided. Two people are recommended for lifting the mirror unit into place.
The dresser and mirror ship as two separate pieces, so the widest single piece is 60 inches at 18 inches deep. It passes through standard Indian doorways when carried through on its side. Measure any tight staircase turns beforehand.
Spray glass cleaner onto a cloth rather than onto the mirror itself. Liquid running down the glass gets behind the frame and into the backing, which is what causes the black spotting you see on old mirrors.
