Active dining sets include options from the Elegant and Astera ranges, while selected Urban Living tables can be paired with compatible dining chairs or benches. Sideboards store table linen, crockery, and serving dishes close to where they’re actually used.

Sheesham and Teak are both genuine solid hardwoods commonly used in Indian furniture-making. How well a piece holds up depends on factors such as seasoning, joinery quality, the protective finish applied, indoor humidity, and regular care.

Choosing the Right Size for Your Room

The sizes below are general planning references, not fixed suitability rules. A size’s suitability depends on the product’s exact dimensions, its extended length if it has one, the clearance needed for chairs, other furniture already in the room, doorway widths, and how much space you need to move around comfortably.

4-seater: approx. 90 x 90 cm, seats 4. Suits a compact dining nook or smaller apartment.

6-seater: approx. 150-180 x 90 cm, seats 6. Suits a standard dining area.

6-8 seater (extending): check the product page for extended length, seats 6-8. Suits larger or open-plan dining spaces.

Beyond the table itself, leave enough space behind each seated chair to push back and stand comfortably, and account for circulation space around the table and any nearby furniture or doorways. An extending table, such as the Velin Oval 6-8 Seater, is worth considering only if the room has clearance to use the extension. Measure both the resting and extended length, and the space needed at each end, before ordering.

Table Shapes and Everyday Practicality

Shape affects how a table fits the room and how it’s used day to day, not just how it looks.

A rectangular table is the most space-efficient option against a wall or in a narrow dining area. The Velin pedestal design shows the oval alternative: it seats a similar number of people in a comparable footprint, with softened corners throughout. Round tables suit a square room or a compact nook, where every seat needs equal access to the centre.

Some rectangular tables in the range, including the Elegant Solid Wood Dining Table with Soft Rounded Corners, use a rounded edge instead of a sharp corner, a design choice some households with young children prefer.

Chairs, Benches and Sideboards: Completing the Room

Matching chairs, a bench, or a sideboard can complete a dining table and are worth choosing from the same or a compatible range.

Elegant and Astera dining sets include matching chairs, so the table and seating share the same finish and proportions from the start. Selected Urban Living tables can be paired with compatible dining chairs or benches. Benches, available in the Urban Living range, are an alternative to two chairs’ worth of seating and can tuck fully under the table when not in use.

The Velin Collection’s dining tables can be coordinated with Velin sideboards in complementary finishes. The tables and sideboards share the collection’s design language, though Velin does not currently include its own dedicated dining chairs, so pair the table with chairs from another range if needed.

A sideboard placed in the dining room puts everyday serving items within reach of the table, rather than a walk to the kitchen for every meal.

Caring for Solid Wood Dining Furniture

Solid wood dining furniture is straightforward to live with day to day.

Wipe spills promptly with a dry or slightly damp cloth rather than leaving liquid to sit. Use coasters and trivets under hot dishes and cold glasses to avoid heat and condensation marks. Lift rather than drag plates and serving dishes across the surface.
