The cane sits in the headboard here, framed on all four sides by a broad teak border rather than a thin moulding. That border is doing structural work — it holds the woven panel in tension, and the wider it is, the less the panel flexes when someone leans back against it. Look along the inner edge where cane meets wood: a thin reed spline runs the full perimeter, locking the webbing into a routed groove. That is how a woven panel is properly installed. Decorative cane-look sheets get stapled flat behind a beading instead, with nothing holding tension, and they bow inward within a couple of years.
The rest of the bed stays deliberately plain. Square posts, flat side rails, a low footboard, no carving or moulding anywhere. Nothing competes with the cane for attention, so the headboard reads as a considered detail rather than decoration for its own sake. The side rails sit 14 inches off the floor, which leaves usable room for storage boxes underneath.
Note: handwoven cane is not uniform — weave tension and pattern vary slightly from panel to panel, and natural wood grain varies from piece to piece.

King and Queen. King takes a 72" x 78" mattress with a 76" wide headboard; Queen takes a 60" x 78" mattress with a 64" wide headboard. Both stand 42 inches tall at the headboard. Select your size from the options above.
Hand-woven. A genuine woven panel is slightly irregular in tension and pattern from one to the next, and it has a hollow resonance when tapped. Pressed cane-pattern sheets are perfectly uniform and thud. The weave on this headboard varies slightly because it is done by hand.
The webbing is set into a routed groove and locked with a reed spline, which holds it under tension. Keep it dusted, and avoid prolonged direct sunlight — natural cane dries out and becomes brittle if it sits in strong sun for years. Normal leaning against a pillow does not stress it.
Dust it every couple of weeks with a dry cloth or a soft brush so debris does not collect in the weave. A vacuum with a brush attachment on low suction works well. Avoid soaking it — cane absorbs water and loses shape.
Solid teak throughout the frame, in a natural teak finish. Teak has a high natural oil content, which is why it resists moisture and insects and holds its shape in Indian conditions without heavy chemical maintenance.
No. The bed is supplied as a frame only. We recommend a mattress 15 to 25 cm thick.
No. This is an open-frame bed, but the side rails sit 14 inches off the floor, which leaves usable clearance for under-bed storage boxes. If you need built-in storage, see our hydraulic storage beds in the beds collection.
It arrives knock-down for DIY assembly. The headboard, footboard, side rails, and slat base bolt together; fittings and instructions are included. Two people are recommended for handling the headboard.
It ships disassembled, so the largest single piece is the headboard — 76" wide for the King, 64" for the Queen, and 42" tall. It passes through standard Indian doorways of 36 inches and above when turned on its side.

Wipe with a dry or lightly damp cloth for daily cleaning. Avoid standing water and direct sunlight for extended periods. Apply a thin coat of raw linseed oil or furniture oil once every 12 to 18 months if the surface looks dry. Sheesham and Teak contain natural oils and do not require heavy chemical maintenance.
All Mamta Handicraft furniture carries a 36-month warranty against manufacturing defects. Every piece is also covered by lifetime termite protection, a 3-step chemical treatment applied during manufacturing at our Ratangarh factory. The warranty does not cover damage from misuse, water submersion, or unauthorised modifications.
