Spindle-back chairs are more structurally redundant than panel-back chairs. Each vertical spindle carries an independent load path to the seat rail. If one spindle loosens slightly over years of use, the others continue to carry the backrest without the chair feeling unstable. A single-panel back has no redundancy: one loose joint and the whole back rocks. That's why spindle-back chairs tend to last longer in daily family dining use without developing the wobble that signals a joint problem.
These chairs use solid wood throughout, which means the spindles are turned from the same material as the frame. Turned spindles in solid wood hold their shape under compression. Spindles assembled from dowels or hollow-core sections can be identified by tapping: they produce a different sound to solid-turned members. The tapered legs are mid-century in proportion, inward-tapering from the seat rail down, which frees knee room at the table without reducing the base footprint at floor level.

All dining chairs in our range sit at a standard 43 to 45 cm seat height, which pairs correctly with any 75 to 76 cm height dining table. Measure your existing table height to confirm compatibility.
Solid wood legs can mark polished marble or tile floors without protection. Rubber or felt floor pads (not included) on all legs are recommended. These are available at any hardware store.

Wipe with a dry or lightly damp cloth for daily cleaning. Avoid standing water and direct sunlight for extended periods. Apply a thin coat of raw linseed oil or furniture oil once every 12 to 18 months if the surface looks dry. Sheesham and Teak contain natural oils and do not require heavy chemical maintenance.
