Blanket boxes fail in one of two ways. The lid either swings down hard and traps fingers, or the carcass develops a soft flex after a few years of someone sitting on it routinely. The sprung hinge here means the lid opens smooth and stays put at any angle, not a common feature at this price point. The mango wood frame is what handles the load: mango runs harder than pine and considerably denser than rubberwood, so the walls don't bow when the box is packed full. The two-tone finish (painted base, natural or washed oak top) works in rooms where all-wood looks too heavy and painted furniture looks too flat.
